Position Overview

We are seeking experienced science tutors to provide one-on-one online instruction to middle school, high school, and college students. As a SiSTEM tutor, you will help students master complex scientific concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare for standardized exams and future careers in STEM fields

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, personalized online tutoring sessions in science subjects
• Develop customized learning plans based on student needs and academic goals
• Provide support for science-based standardized test preparation
• Track and document student progress
• Maintain regular communication with students and the SiSTEM team
• Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Science field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.) or Education (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience in any of the following subjects:
  • High School Science: General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology
  • College-Level Science: Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Immunology, Quantum Mechanics
• Test Prep: SAT Science, ACT Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, MCAT, PCAT, DAT, OAT, GRE Subject Tests, state teaching exams
• Strong digital communication and virtual teaching skills using Zoom or Google Meet
• Proficiency with online learning platforms and educational technology
• Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for virtual sessions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching certification or formal educational training
• Experience with online tutoring platforms
• Familiarity with hands-on, inquiry-based, or project-based learning approaches
• Multilingual capabilities (especially Spanish)
