Title: Acquisitions Assistant/Associate (Complex Books), Baker Academic Reports to: Executive Vice President of Academic Publishing Department: Baker Academic Editorial Location: Baker Publishing Group office, Ada, MI or hybrid FLSA: Non-exempt, full time About this position: Baker Academic is currently accepting applications for a full-time Acquisitions Assistant or Associate (rank dependent upon experience). This is a full-time (40 hours), on-premises or hybrid position. The Acquisitions Assistant/Associate will work closely with the EVP of academic publishing, acquisitions editors, and authors, providing assistance with illustrations, permissions, contributor agreements, and other aspects of producing complex books. Position Objective: To support the acquisition of complex Baker Academic projects by assisting acquisitions editors and authors with manuscript preparation, especially preparing illustrations and illustration lists, sorting out permissions, and facilitating the creation of ancillary instructor materials (eSources). Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold or demonstrate: A graduate degree in a ministerial or theological discipline (e.g., MDiv) Desire to build a career in academic religious publishing Meticulous attention to detail Basic computer literacy Strong interpersonal skills Experience in research Ability to collaborate and bring projects to completion Compensation and Benefits: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
