Akkodis is looking for an EHS Specialist in Bohemia, NY . Please review the details below:

Seeking a proactive EHS Specialist to support site leadership in maintaining and improving safety and environmental programs. Key responsibilities include hazardous waste compliance, safety risk assessments, ergonomics and electrical safety, incident investigations, and EHS training. Ideal candidates have experience with LOTO procedures, environmental regulations, and certifications such as CSP or CIH.

Pay Range: $30-$37/hour ; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Type: 6+ months contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct safety risk assessments and develop/maintain LOTO equipment procedures.
• Manage hazardous waste handling, monitoring, and reporting to ensure EPA/local compliance.
• Lead root cause investigations and follow-up on corrective actions.
• Support ergonomic assessments and electrical safety reviews.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs.
• Maintain current permits and regulatory filings; align procedures with regulatory updates.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and emergency preparedness drills.
• Support industrial hygiene monitoring and workplace hazard corrections.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with safety compliance, waste management, and environmental permitting.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• CSP/CIH certification or active pursuit preferred.

Work Environment:

• Light manufacturing setting with occasional need for physical activity, including bending, ladder use, and basic maintenance tasks. Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods.
