Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a Heavy Equipment Hauler in Baltimore, Maryland. The Heavy Equipment Hauler is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of industrial, commercial parts, and construction equipment to customer locations and Carter Machinery branches along established routes. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of CDL driving experience, including heavy-haul and tractor/lowboy driving. A valid CDL A license is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Requirements for the Heavy Equipment Hauler include: Thorough knowledge of DOT and Company safety standards and regulations. Excellent driving record. Ability to operate a 5 or 6 axle configuration truck. Ability to conduct truck inspections to ensure proper working order. Skill in securing cargo using chains and binders to comply with regulations. Mechanical aptitude for basic truck maintenance. Professional interaction with customers and personnel, with the ability to explain delivery issues. Ability to work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations. Knowledge of rental, construction, and generator equipment, with the ability to operate and instruct on proper use. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to operate a forklift. Willingness to work additional hours based on job and customer demands. Promotion of a positive customer experience. Physical Requirements: Ability to qualify for a Department of Transportation medical card. Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 80 pounds. Frequent reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and sitting for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. This description is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned. Compensation and Benefits: Starting Range: $23.91 - $33.95 per hour Salary may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, education, location, and other factors.
