The Opportunity:

As a Real Estate Paralegal, you will assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for commercial real estate financing transactions. You will be a member of the firm’s Real Estate department, reporting to the attorneys on your team.

The Day-To-Day:

On any given day, you will:

  • Review title commitments, exception documents, surveys, and zoning reports, interfacing directly with the title company, surveyor and zoning consultant to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Prepare title, survey and zoning report comments and negotiate title policies, endorsements, surveys and zoning reports.
  • Prepare and maintain internal and external closing checklists and similar documentation.
  • Prepare clear and concise internal and external communication, email correspondence, and document summaries.
  • Review document comments and prepare preliminary document revisions.
  • Format documents for recording requirements, including signature and notary blocks.
  • Review leases and tenant estoppel certificates; identify issues of concern; prepare initial draft SNDAs.
  • Review organizational and authority documents; prepare necessary summaries.
  • Order and review UCC Lien and other search reports.
  • Coordinate and assist with all aspects of closings, including preparation of initial draft loan documents, closing statements, signature page packages, notices and other closing documents.
  • Attend to all post-closing requirements, including overseeing preparation of closing indices, organization of closing binders, and monitoring of all post-closing deliveries and requirements with regular updates to applicable team members.
You Have:
  • 5 years or more of full-time experience in a fast-paced environment with commercial real estate transactions, including at least 2 years of meaningful experience involving documenting and closing of commercial real estate financing transactions. Law firm and in-house experience will be considered.
  • A Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong writing, organizational, people and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook or similar mail and calendar technology.
  • Legal research skills and knowledge of relevant databases.
