The City of San Bruno is excited to invite qualified community-minded professionals to apply for the role of Recreation Coordinator (Senior Programs). This position plays a key role in supporting the well-being engagement and enrichment of adults aged 50 at the San Bruno Senior Center one of the most active and welcoming centers in the region.

Under the direction of a Recreation Services Manager the Recreation Coordinator will help plan organize and oversee a wide range of programs classes events and services designed to support healthy aging foster connection and enhance quality of life for our senior community.

We are seeking a collaborative compassionate and detail-oriented professional with strong recreation programming experience especially in services for older adults.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan organize and supervise daily recreation programs activities events and services for adults age 50.
  • Manage program logistics facility use staffing schedules and volunteer placements.
  • Train motivate and evaluate assigned staff and volunteers creating a supportive and positive team environment.
  • Oversee program budgets monitor expenditures and revenues and ensure the responsible use of resources.
  • Prepare program materials including brochures calendars flyers press releases and other communications.
  • Respond to public inquiries and provide excellent customer service at the Senior Center and through phone email and written correspondence.
  • Support a welcoming inclusive and engaging atmosphere for all participants.
  • Develop and implement innovative programs that reflect the needs and interests of the senior community.
  • Provide leadership and support during special events rentals and citywide activities.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in recreation gerontology social work physical education public administration or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the development and coordination of programs services events or activities.

  • Experience working with senior populations or community recreation programs is highly desirable.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid California Class C drivers license First Aid/CPR certification and California Food Handlers card are required at time of hire.
