The successful candidate will perform rodent brain slice patch clamp electrophysiology recordings and contribute to ongoing studies focused on understanding addiction-related neurophysiology. Key Responsibilities: 70% Research and Data Analysis * Conduct whole-cell patch clamp recordings in acute and/or cultured rodent brain slices. * Analyze electrophysiological data using pClamp software and other standard tools. * Collaborate with team members to design, execute, and interpret experiments. * Ensure timely completion of experiments and data analysis to support project goals. 20% Leadership * Mentor and assist junior lab members in electrophysiology techniques and protocols. 10% Scholarship * Writing methods and experimental results, and preparation of manuscripts for publication. Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: * BA/BS plus at least 4 years of hands-on experience in rodent brain slice patch clamp electrophysiology OR a combination of education and work experience to equal at least eight years * Expertise in pClamp software and strong proficiency in analyzing electrophysiological data. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented research environment. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet experimental deadlines. * Willingness to contribute to training and mentoring of junior staff. Preferred Qualifications: * PhD in neuroscience, physiology, or pharmacology or equivalent. * Experience with brain slice optogenetic manipulation and recordings About the Department The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota is one of six basic science departments in the Medical School.
