POSITION SUMMARY
The Behavior Specialist will function with autonomy, integrity, diplomacy and professionalism within the guidelines established by ProBerco. The Behavior Specialist will promote the wellbeing of the human aspect of this organization and administer the principles of short- and long-range planning to anticipate and avoid any issues. The Behavior Specialist will promote ProBerco in a highly professional manner and will function in the highest stature when dealing with employees, individuals, families, and any outside entities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis or Gerontology or PA Behavior Specialist License.
2. Completed training in conducting Functional Behavior Assessment and Positive Behavior Support.
3. Five (5) years of behavior support services experience.
4. Knowledge of Positive Approaches, Person Centered Thinking, and Trauma Informed Care.
5. Experience with facilitating in group of staff mentoring programs.
6. Valid PA driver’s license.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Complete evaluation/detailed assessment of needs for individuals needing Behavior Support Plan (BSP) or a Restrictive Procedure Plan (RPP). Collect and evaluate behavioral data. Observe individuals in various settings for the purpose of developing a BSP/RPP. Collaborate with the individual, their family, and their team for the purpose of developing a BSP/RPP. Conduct comprehensive functional assessments of presenting issues (e.g. aggression, self-injurious behavior, law BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST Page 2 offending behavior, or elopement, etc.). Partner with the individual, their family, and their team in order to develop positive interventions to address specific presenting issues.
2. Develop individualized BSP/RPP. Ensure that all support plans are Person Driven, integrate Practice Based Evidence and reflect the core clinical needs of the individual.
3. Develop and assist Directors in completing mental health plans and/or Social Emotional Environmental Plans (SEEPS).
4. Train and mentor/support staff, families and team members on the individual’s behavior support plan and the individual preference for supports.
5. Implement activities and strategies identified in the individual’s BSP/RPP.
6. Monitor implementation of BSP/RPP.
7. Collect, organize, review, and analyze data on challenging strategies. Maintain and update individuals’ behavioral data tracking tools/create progress documentation utilizing Excel and convey trends, progress, success or the need to change approaches.
8. Review and revise BSP/RPP annually for each individual at Individual Support Plan (ISP) Annual Review or whenever a Critical Revision (CR) is requested by the individual’s supports team. Collect BSP/RPP signatures electronically through DocuSign. Partner with interdisciplinary teams to schedule and facilitate annual training on BSP/RPP.
9. Attend (as required/virtually) psychiatric, medical, and therapy appointments as needed for consumers.
10. Participate as needed in Interdisciplinary Team and Quarterly ISP meetings.
11. Ensure/Protect all individual’s human rights. Participate in ongoing Human Rights Team (HRT) Reviews. Complete the individual’s HRT Summary and necessary supporting documentation. Participate in various County Human Rights committee (HRC) Reviews. Complete the necessary supporting documentation and coordinate with the Director that all necessary documentation is complete/accurate.
12. Participate in various County Positive Practices Review Committee (PPRC) upon request.
13. Collects feedback on the individual and team members’ experiences of the supports and services provided. 14. Complete accurate documentation of billable/non-billable time in EHR, Progress Notes (PN), and monthly Progress Review Summary Notes (MPRSN) daily/weekly/monthly for every individual on BSS caseload.
15. Submit required monthly oversight information to supervisors.
16. Participate in necessary Supervision/mentoring meeting with supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Behavioral Specialist position. · Safety precautions are observed to reduce incidents of risk factors for a typical residential/office setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
· The Behavioral Specialist might be required to sit at a meeting table or desk for a long period of time.
· May be required to reach, lift, bend, stand, stoop, twist, climb steps, and drive a vehicle.
· The Behavioral Specialist will work mostly in an office or group home setting.
