Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Power BI Consultant to help our clients implement and optimize data analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The successful candidate will work with business leaders and stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and create data-driven insights that empower decision-making. This position requires a deep understanding of Power BI, data modeling, and visualization best practices. It is a hybrid position, that will require some onsite capability with our client. but remote work would make up the majority of the effort. We are open to both contract or permanent resources, though local candidates are required to the GTA for onsite days.

Key Responsibilities:

• Power BI Development:
• Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions tailored to business needs.
• Create and maintain complex data models, ensuring data accuracy and performance optimization.
• Integrate data from multiple sources such as SQL Server, Excel, cloud services, APIs, and other third-party platforms.
• Utilize Power Query, DAX, and other Power BI tools to transform, clean, and manipulate data.

Client Consultation:

• Collaborate with clients to understand their business requirements and define analytics goals.
• Provide expert advice on Power BI best practices, report design, and user interface considerations.
• Guide clients through the process of transforming raw data into actionable insights.

Data Strategy and Analytics:

• Develop and implement data strategies to ensure high-quality data and efficient reporting systems.
• Identify key business metrics, KPIs, and other key indicators for reporting.
• Conduct data analysis to help clients discover trends, patterns, and opportunities.

Training and Support:

• Provide training and support to end-users on how to interact with Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Power BI issues, providing ongoing support to users.
• Assist clients with Power BI service configurations, report distribution, and sharing.

Collaboration and Documentation:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, data engineers, and business analysts, to ensure successful implementation.
• Document technical specifications, solutions, and methodologies used in Power BI projects.
• Keep up to date with Power BI updates and new features to provide innovative solutions.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

• Proven experience with Power BI, including report/dashboard development, DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts, normalization, and database design.
• Experience integrating Power BI with various data sources (SQL, APIs, flat files, etc.).
• Knowledge of advanced features like row-level security (RLS), Power BI Dataflows, and Power Automate.

Analytical and Business Skills:

• Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and communicate findings effectively.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience with data visualization best practices and creating user-friendly reports.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong client-facing experience, with the ability to lead client meetings and present complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders.
• Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience as a Power BI Consultant or similar role, with a proven track record of successful implementations.
• Experience with cloud-based platforms (Azure, Power BI Service) and data integration tools is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or other Power BI-related certifications.
• Experience with Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.
• Familiarity with Python, R, or other scripting languages for data analytics.
• Knowledge of other BI tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.) is a bonus.
