  • Oversee fiscal operations of the Institute in alignment with institutional priorities and available resources.

Research Leadership & Programs

  • Build trans-disciplinary programs aligned with core institutional strengths that will lead to large-scale grants, program projects, and training mechanisms.
  • Promote high-risk, high-reward research through seed funding, milestone-based evaluation, and rigorous oversight.
  • Launch integrated initiatives in Aging, Computational Biology, and Neuroscience.

People, Culture & Training

  • In collaboration with the department chair, conduct annual progress reviews for all Institute faculty and manage promotion and tenure processes.
  • Recruit, retain, and mentor faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and professional staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and psychological safety.
  • Enhance graduate and postdoctoral training programs, including curriculum development, T32 training grants, career development initiatives, and mentorship frameworks.

Funding, Partnerships & Impact

  • Expand a diversified funding portfolio across federal agencies, foundations, industry partners, and philanthropic sources.
  • Build strategic partnerships with departments and cross-campus entities such as Neurology, Genetics, Psychiatry, the Miami Project, Neurological Surgery, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Psychology, and Biology, as well as national laboratories and research consortia.
  • Represent the Institute to internal and external stakeholders.

Operations, Compliance & Assessment

  • Ensure compliance with research integrity standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in neuroscience or a closely related field.
  • Distinguished record of scholarly impact and sustained extramural funding.
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex academic/research organizations or multi‑investigator programs.
  • Evidence of excellence in mentoring and commitment to an inclusive research and training environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience launching and managing interdisciplinary centers, cores, and large‑scale collaborations (e.g., NIH center grants, U‑series).
  • Success in strategic planning, resource development, and engagement with industry and/or philanthropic partners.
  • Leadership experience in Aging and/or Computational Biology/Neuroscience programs.
